San Francisco 49ers at Minnesota Vikings: Third quarter open thread

NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Minnesota Vikings Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

At halftime, the Vikings lead the 49ers 10-3.

Kirk Cousins has looked really good so far. He connected with Stefon Diggs on a 22 yard TD pass early in the second quarter to give the Vikings a 10-0 lead. He’s 14-20 for 165 yards and a TD, along with a couple of nifty runs.

The 49ers answered the Diggs TD with a 40 yard field goal from Robbie Gould, and on the ensuing drive, the Vikings were driving but that ended on a Dalvin Cook fumble that was recovered by Richard Sherman.

The Vikes defense seemed to hold, until a stop on 3rd and 1 was nullified due to a false start penalty by SF. The Niners converted the 3rd and six and drove down to the two yard line, and looked to tie the game.

Then Linval Joseph and Andrew Sendejo stuffed Alfred Morris, at the one, and Morris fumbled. Harrison Smith recovered the ball, and the 14 play 49ers drive netted zero points. The VIkings got to midfield before a couple of questionable play calls ended the drive and the half.

So after 30 minutes, Kirk Cousins looks good, the Vikings defense had a goal line stand, and the good guys have the lead.

Enjoy the third quarter!
