Happy New Year’s Day, everyone!
Well, for those of you who still like to........indulge a bit on New Year’s Eve, I’ll just whisper “happy New Year’s day”............right before I hit the air horn. Good morning, sunshine!
Okay, I’m happy to be off of work today, but thinking about Sunday, and the impotent offense the Vikes fielded, I can’t stay very happy. Now, it’s just football, so it doesn’t affect the truly important things in my life, such as building things with Lego’s and playing tag (yes, I’m home with my 3-year old today), but it still grates on my nerves when I sit down to relax and enjoy my break from reality, which is football. I hope they have a plan, because that offense was disgusting to watch. I’m surprised Joe Buck didn’t comment on it, since he likes to critique disgusting acts displayed by Vikings.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Ted shared the report that Mike Zimmer will not resign or retire, despite rumors to the contrary.
Wludford evaluates the aforementioned head coach. He also took a look at the offensive coordinator position.
The list of 2019 Vikings opponents has been finalized, some locations are still unknown, per Chris.
The Vikings will select 18th in the upcoming NFL Draft. I hate talking about the draft already, but here we are.
A little deja-vu all over again, Chris looks at the off-season priorities for the Vikings. The list of needs may sound familiar, it’s similar to the list we had last year.......and the year before.....and the year before that.........and the year before that......and.....
MarkSP18 highlights some potential future Vikings to keep an eye on while you’re watching the Bowl games.
The Cleveland Browns have requested to interview Kevin Stefanski for......their head coaching position, per Chris.
Chris shared the report from Tom Pelissero that the Vikings will not be making any major off-season changes.
Jonah Dylan does a quick reflection on the Vikings 2018 season.
Eric looks at five game-changing plays from Sunday’s season ender.

PFF does an analysis of the 2018 Vikings.
The Tampa Bay Bucaneers have requested to interview Vikings DC George Edwards.
Vikings news from other sources and news from around the league:
CBS Sports has some projections for the playoff brackets.
NFL.com has a coaching tracker where you can keep up with the latest coaching staff hirings and firings throughout the league. They also say that the Browns and Packers HC jobs are the most alluring. Ummmm.......I’ll leave that alone (although I may make a comment in the.......... comments).
We come to today’s media selection:
Here, listen to this one for a few hours.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
- No discussion of politics or religion
- No feeding of the trolls
- This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
- Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
- Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
- No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
- If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
- While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try.........nothing, I suggest having nothing. Just sit here with your beer and be angry, you’ll fit right in.
