Todd Downing hired by Tennessee Titans

He had been serving as the Vikings’ tight ends coach

After some of the moves made by the Minnesota Vikings’ coaching staff, a member of the 2018 group has moved on to a new destination.

Todd Downing, who had been serving as the Vikings’ tight ends coach, has agreed to the same job with the Tennessee Titans.

Downing, a Minnesota native who attended Eden Prairie High School, joined the Vikings before the start of the 2018 season. Prior to that, he served as the offensive coordinator of the Oakland Raiders, and was the quarterbacks coach for the Silver and Black prior to that.

When the Vikings hired Gary Kubiak as an offensive consultant a couple of weeks ago, one of the coaches that he brought with him was Brian Pariani, who has served as Kubiak’s tight ends coach in the past with the Denver Broncos. That made Downing expendable, and he has chosen to move on to Tennessee.

We are still keeping an eye on the Vikings’ coaching staff, as they still have not hired an offensive line coach. Why? I’m not entirely sure, but with the Scouting Combine and the rest of the pre-draft process getting underway soon, I would hope that we would hear an announcement about that sometime in the next few days.
