The big game is only days away......I’m glad I don’t have to get anywhere in Atlanta right now.

NFL: Pro Bowl-NFC Practice Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

We’re only days away from the battle to claim the rights as league champion. These same two teams faced off 16 years ago, in what would become the beginning of a dynasty. Will Sunday be the end of that dynasty? It would make for good headlines and lots of media babbling......err......chatter, so I could see it being allowed to happ.........I mean, so I could see it happening. Time will tell.

One thing I DO know is that Brady does not compare to the great quarterbacks of the past. Talk all day long about yards and comebacks, blah blah blah. He didn’t take abuse like the quarterbacks did a couple decades ago, and the rules weren’t configured to allow offenses to have a free run at obscene passing stats. I don’t think he’d have lasted a year if he had to endure punishment like quarterbacks did a couple decades ago. You know, before the league changed the rules after they came to the conclusion that more passing yards equals more $$$$ from tickets and league endorsed flip-flops. That’s my two cent’s worth, which, after you consider the cost of producing two pennies, is actually worth less than zero, so you just lost money by reading that.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Wludford put together an in-depth profile of draft prospect, Dalton Risner. It’s one of those profiles with lots of information & stuff, not a picture of the side of the guy’s head, in case you were wondering.

From Chris, Anthony Barr is leaving all his options open as he enters free agency.

Arif posted Norse Code Podcast Episode 269: The Butterfly Effect.

Vikings news from other sources and news from around the rest of the NFL:

At Vikings.com, Wobby discusses the draft, Kubiak’s role, and more as he opens the Monday Morning Mailbag.

ESPN has a recap of last night’s events, as the teams arrived in Atlanta and met with the media.

The NFL stated that the courts can’t fix a blown call, per Yahoo Sports. This was in response to a lawsuit filed by whiners fans who wanted the end of this year’s NFCCG to be replayed. Yes, I think they were serious. There’s nothing in the story where the Saints would then forfeit their appearance in Super Bowl XLIV, and allow the Vikings and Colts to replay the game. Oh, and also immediately implement the lifetime suspensions of Sean Payton and Gregggggggggggggggg Williams.

We come to today’s media selection:

We played a highlight reel of Adrian Peterson yesterday, now let’s watch another Viking who was one of the best of all time at his position. This is a highlight reel of Randy Moss wearing purple and gold (sometimes white and purple, but you know what I mean).

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

  • No discussion of politics or religion
  • No feeding of the trolls
  • This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
  • Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
  • Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
  • No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
  • If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
  • While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try the tiger meat.
