The wait is nearly over. The Vikings are expected to announce their decision for their next offensive coordinator soon

Brian Billick

Merry Tuesday, everyone!

My apologies for yesterday’s thread. I was re-texturing our ceilings over the weekend, and while doing so, my phone suffered a severe injury on Sunday. On that phone is an authentication app, which I could no longer access, so I could no longer access many sites. One of those sites is the Daily Norseman. As I sat down Sunday night to post the blog, I realized far too much of my life is tied up to that poor, injured phone. Anyway, thank you to VikingsfaninChennai for covering. If I ever get to Chennai (wherever that is), I’ll buy you a cold non-IPA. You will all be happy to know that my phone has made a fast and complete recovery, thanks to the doctors at the place where phones go to get healed, and where pocketbooks go to get emptier. Well, where wallets go to get emptier, in my case. Does anyone use a pocketbook anymore? I’m not even sure I know what a pocketbook is. Anyway, my apologies. Hey, my ceilings look friggin awesome. No more popcorn texture!

Around the DN since our last open thread/fanpost:

Chris wants you take your best guess at who will be the Vikings’ next offensive coordinator.

Chris also shared a report which identified one of the candidates for the position, Dirk Koetter. (Don’t get too excited, Koetter fans. The story was updated after Koetter was offered the OC position in Atlanta)

Vikings news from other sources and news from around the rest of the NFL:

From Courtney Cronin at ESPN, Mike Zimmer vows to get innovative in their search for a new offensive coordinator.

At Vikings.com, Eric Smith looks at 10 offensive numbers of note from 2018, Craig Peters recapped the position of quarterback for the 2018 Vikings, and Wobby opened the Monday Morning Mailbag and asks how the Vikings can be more consistent. I’d say the offense was consistent for the latter portion of the season. Problem was, they were consistently bad.

We come to today’s media selection:

Since a new offensive coordinator is expected to be revealed today, let’s play two selections. The first is for the optimists (like me) who will know that the OC will lead us to the Super Bowl. The second is for the other side, who will guarantee that the selection will be what leads the team to 0-16. Oh, and that the Vikings should fire everyone. Enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

  • No discussion of politics or religion
  • No feeding of the trolls
  • This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
  • Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
  • Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
  • No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
  • If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
  • While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try this new dish the chef is creating sometime today. It’s a little something he calls “hey, it has to be better than the last one”. Not sure where he came up with the name, he keeps mumbling something about not ever listening to media hype again, or something like that. He’s a little strange, best to stay away from him.
