There’s no rest. . .or, at the least, very little rest. . .for the Minnesota Vikings coming off of their third consecutive victory, as they will host Thursday Night Football in Week 8 with the Washington Redskins coming to town.
This game is going to be a bit of a reunion, as the Redskins are quarterbacked by former Vikings quarterback Case Keenum, and Keenum will be turning and handing off to former Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. Things have been a bit rough for Washington this season, though. . .they fired head coach Jay Gruden a couple of weeks ago, and they come into this one with a record of 1-6, having just fallen 9-0 at home to the San Francisco 49ers.
The Vikings may have to play this one without star wide receiver Adam Thielen. Thielen injured a hamstring on a 25-yard touchdown catch in the Vikings’ 42-30 victory over the Detroit Lions in Week 7, and expecting him to be ready on a short week might be too big of an ask. Obviously, Thielen’s situation is one we’ll be monitoring this week.
It’s also a reunion for Kirk Cousins, who will get his first shot at the team he spent his first six NFL seasons with. Cousins has been on a roll since his disastrous performance against Chicago in Week 4, as he’s thrown ten touchdown passes over the last three weeks, including four touchdown passes in each of his last two games.
Kickoff for this one is scheduled for 7:20 PM Central time on Thursday night, and it will be aired on FOX everywhere in America.
