There’s no denying that Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback Kirk Cousins has been on a pretty darn good run since his disastrous performance in Chicago back in Week 4. It turns out that the run he’s on isn’t just “good,” it’s historic.
Kirk Cousins, who passed for 306 yards with a 138.6 passer rating in Week 5 and had 333 passing yards and a 138.4 rating in Week 6, is the first quarterback to record at least 300 passing yards and a passer rating of 135 or higher in three consecutive games in NFL history.

With his performance today against the Detroit Lions, Cousins became the first quarterback in NFL history to record three straight games in which he threw for at least 300 yards and compiled a quarterback rating of at least 135.
Here’s what Cousins’ last three games have looked like:
- Week 5 (at New York Giants) - 22/27, 306 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, QB rating of 138.6
- Week 6 (vs Philadelphia Eagles) - 22/29, 333 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT, QB rating of 138.4
- Week 7 (at Detroit Lions) - 24/34, 337 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT, QB rating of 141.4
A perfect QB rating is 158.3. Over the past three weeks, Cousins has an overall quarterback rating of 142.6 (68/90, 976 yards, 10 touchdowns, 1 interception).
I know that some people might not be a big fan of the QB rating statistic, but it’s a measure that the NFL has used for quite some time. Given those parameters, Kirk Cousins has done something that no other quarterback in NFL history has ever accomplished.
That’s pretty good, right?
