Report: Adam Thielen ‘unlikely’ for Thursday

But, it’s not all bad news

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Vikings WR Adam Thielen had one catch for 25 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings 42-30 win over Detroit yesterday, but he injured his hamstring on the play...which was a completely ridiculous throw and catch:

As such, it looks like he’ll miss Thursday’s prime time game against the Washington Redskins.

Hamstrings are a tricky injury, and they can linger for weeks or months if a player comes back too early. Fortunately for Thielen and the Vikings, though, the MRI Thielen had showed that it’s reportedly not serious. As a matter of fact, there’s a good chance that the only game he’ll miss is the Redskins game, which is good. Because after Washington, Minnesota has consecutive road games against Kansas City and Dallas, with another road game in Seattle after a home game against Denver. It’s a critical part of the schedule, and a healthy Thielen will be a big factor as the Vikings start their stretch run.

So, good news bad news for this. Bad news is that Thielen misses Thursday, but shouldn’t miss much more time. If he can return full strength for Kansas City, that’s about the best news we could hope for under the circumstances.
