Maybe there has been too much hype about Cousins' record against winning teams.

I've been as big a Cousins critic as almost anyone here on DN. I pretty much lost faith in him after the loss in Seattle last year, and so far to this point I've seen nothing to change my opinion. For whatever reason, despite being blessed with incredible talent, he just can't perform in big moments. All it takes is a tough divisional matchup for those moments to be too big for him to function, and we've already seen that two more times this year.

Despite my opinion I've recently been forced to re-think my take on his record against winning teams. Not that I've quoted that stat in criticizing him because I haven't, but I have generally believed his record against winning teams to be an essential example of his critical weaknesses. Yesterday I happened upon the following from the Twitter feed of Mr. Christian Pina:

Since 2012, Aaron Rodgers is 7-24 vs +.500 teams

Kirk Cousins: 5-24 record against winning teams in his career.

Matthew Stafford career vs winning teams: 9-54

The more ya know.

Needless to say, I was surprised. I'm still pretty sure that Kirk Cousins will make his typical bonehead mistakes in out next big game, very likely our next game... against Philly. I do have renewed hope that maybe after Thielen and Diggs mouthed off Cousins will man-up and start playing to his potential consistently. If nothing else, this insight from Christian Pina will bolster my hope at least until Cousins blows it up again.
