Post Cowboys Game 2020 Mock Draft and Free Agency

Well according to the poll from last week about half the people who voted would like to see one of these every week so here we go.

After the game Rudolph had it gets harder to cut him, so I found a way to keep him around for this week's edition, i also didn't sign Teddy because it was foolish to believe the Fanspeak engine that said I had the money for it. With that here we go.

Cut

Xavier Rhodes

Everson Griffen

I decided I liked our odds better keeping as many players as possible of our own. I wish I could have kept Rhodes because we need as many good corners as possible. Rhodes hasn't been up to snuff this year and we need the money. Odenigbo has had some splash plays the last few games, so hopefully he can takeover for Griffen, especially because I couldn't afford to resign Weatherly.

Resigned

Mackensie Alexander 3 years 6,000,000 a year 30% guaranteed

Dan Bailey 3 years 1,500,000 a year 20% guaranteed

Jayron Kearse 3 years 3,000,000 a year 25% guaranteed

Free Agency

LOL nope no money. Though interestingly enough Drew Brees was a free agent and the Saints kept Teddy as their QB of the future.

Draft- using the current NFL draft rankings

Round 1. Bryce Hall CB Virginia. No trade offers in the first round and with both Rhodes and Waynes gone in this scenario we could use another corner to go with Mack, Hughes, and Hill.

Round 2. Trade down. I got two offers, I don't really like either of them because they take me to the second half of the third round, but I'm going to take a chance because there are a decent amount of target players left that I like. So I get two 3rd rounders, a 4th, and a 5th in the trade down.

Rd 3. Isaiah Loudermilk DL Wisconsin. A defensive tackle prospect to hopefully redshirt a year and eventually take the spot of either Stephen or Joseph in a year.

Rd 3. Jonah Jackson G Ohio State. Just keep throwing early/mid round picks at the O-line until its a strength of the team.

Rd. 3 Antoine Winfield S Minnesota. A safety prospect with MInnesota connections in more ways than one. Addresses some depth issues with Harris walking in this situation. Also had a good game against formerly number four Penn State.

Rd. 3 J.K. Dobbins RB Ohio State. An athletic mid-round running back, Alexander Mattison in good for us, but I'd like a little more insurance in case Dalvin either holds out, or a member of the committee if we can't afford to keep him.

Round 4. Luke Farrell TE Ohio State. I swear I'm not trying to do an Ohio State themed draft, that's just the way the board happened to fall. Farrell stands at the same height as Rudolph and watching his snags against the Cowboys I appreciate having an understudy to Rudy for a year and giving them a successor if they chose to move on from his contract.

Round 4. Ben Cleveland G Georgia. Another mid round pick for the interior O-line. I'd like to think between these picks and the talent on the team already we can have an even better O-line next year.

Round 5. Michael Divinity Jr. LB LSU. A late round linebacker to serve as a backup and special teams player.

Round 6. Carter Coughlin EDGE Minnesota. A bit of a homer pick, I'll admit but the VIkings do a good job of developing late round D-linemen and the Vikings need another after both Griffen and Weatherly leave in this situation.

Round 7. Jack Driscoll OT Auburn. I would have liked to have gotton a tackle earlier, but that's just the way the board fell for me.

Round 7. Michael Pittman Jr. WR USC. The Vikings seem to be having luck with the late round wide receivers lately, so I'll toss in a couple for development.

Round 7. Lynn Bowden WR Kentucky. Same reasoning as Pittman Jr. Plus I saw him listed somewhere else as a possible late round target for the Vikings.

Round 7. Steven Montez QB Colorado. Because somebody needs to replace Slotergoat.

Round 7. Tanner Muse S Clemson. An insurance policy on WInfield Jr. and a possible special teams player.

Only one trade in this scenario, though I did reject a few more that I didn't like from my side of things. I doubt they actually make 14 total picks, but I don't know any of the players well enough at this point to trade up in the later rounds for players I want. Also a pretty Big 10 heavy draft. Overall I like this better than last week's addition of this exercise, though hopefully I like next weeks even more.
