The Minnesota Vikings released their injury report a little while ago, and it’s a bit good news and bad news:
Bad news: Kearse not practicing is new, as this is his first time on this week’s injury report. Same for Bisi Johnson. Mattison not practicing for a second straight day is worrisome. Even though Dalvin Cook was a full participant, his chest is still bothersome, and we could be one hit away from some serious Mike Boone action. Not that Boone is bad, but he is a downgrade from Cook and Mattison, and it would have a ripple effect in the Vikings offense.
Good news: Adam Thielen is still practicing, albeit on a limited basis. Both Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport tweeted out that the Vikings expect him to play this week, barring any setbacks. So far, there doesn’t seem to be any, and a healthy Thielen back in time for the final three games would be a huge boost for the team. Linval Joseph was a full participant today after being limited yesterday, and having the big man back and healthy in the middle of the Vikings defensive line is as much of a boost to the defense as Thielen’s return is for the offense.
All things considered, the Vikings are in pretty good shape health wise this late into the season. If Thielen returns, and the running back position doesn’t get any worse, the Vikes are one of the healthiest teams in the league this late in the year, and that will help immensely for this final stretch run.
If anything changes, we’ll be sure to update you.
