Vikings make room to add a fourth WR for tonight’s matchup

The Minnesota Vikings make a couple of roster moves to make room for a fourth wide receiver for tonight’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

Linebacker Ben Gedeon was placed on the injured reserve list because of a couple concussions he endured this season. Adam Thielen is out once again because of a hamstring injury. That left only three healthy wide receivers: Stefon Diggs, Olabisi Johnson and Laquon Treadwell.

The Vikings activated undrafted rookie Alexander Hollins to fill in as the fourth wide receiver after they put Gedeon on IR. The Eastern Illinois transfer spent two seasons as a Panther where he started in 22 games. His senior season was his most notable. The six-foot-one, 2018 Walter Payton Award finalist caught 80 receptions for 1,102 yards.

Hollins was waived during the last wave of cuts prior to the start of the regular season. However, he was assigned to the practice squad on Sept. 12.

As Chris Tomasson said in a tweet, linebacker Eric Wilson will now be a everyday starter moving forward and Cameron Smith may have a roster spot locked up for the remainder of the season.
