Weekend Open Thread

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Los Angeles Chargers Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Good Morning!

Hope you have a weekend planned full of fun, last minute Christmas shopping and fulfilling the honey do list so the Monday Night Game has your full attention. Since there are three games Saturday night (one of which has playoff seeding implications for the Vikings) I’d assume there will be a game thread for the games. I’m taking mrs_rob out for dinner, but I’ll check and make sure one is available before we go (got a gift card for a Christmas gift). I don’t know who needs to read this, but no politics. I deleted a bunch of it yesterday, next I’ll delete the comments and the offender. Dead serious about this, I won’t have it on any thread I post at the DailyNorseman. Meanwhile, let’s carry on with our news and links open thread full of beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes. Drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and it’s the weekend, have a good time.

Vikings news from other sources:

From Watch the video version of ‘Xs and Os with Mike Zimmer,’ which airs on KFAN each Wednesday night, as Coach Zimmer and Paul Allen discuss the big accomplishment of getting to 10 wins, the stability of the organization, his thoughts on the team’s three Pro Bowlers, rookie CB Kris Boyd’s play on special teams, and lastly his thoughts on Monday’s opponent, the Green Bay Packers.

The Voyage | Episode 11. After a late comeback fell just short against the Seahawks, the Vikings returned to U.S. Bank Stadium for the ‘My Cause My Cleats’ game against the Detroit Lions, a game the Vikings were able to claim victory in and keep their pursuit of the divisional title and a playoff berth alive.

Consistent with the weekend thread, I’ll post league news in the comments section.

We come to today’s media selection:
1998 Nike Commercial - John Randle chases chicken Brett Favre

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waiter, don’t eat the yellow snow or cheese and Welcome Aboard!
