Over the years, we’ve made no secret of the fact that most of us are fans of professional wrestling. With that in mind, we may have a new leader in the clubhouse for the most famous fan of the Minnesota Vikings.
Chris Jericho, who has wrestled pretty much everybody pretty much everywhere at this point, spoke with Rich Eisen today about how he came to be a fan of the Minnesota Vikings. . .through his wife. I just assumed it might have been because he grew up in Winnipeg, but he apparently wasn’t that big into the sport until a couple of years ago.
He also isn’t a huge fan of Kirk Cousins and his contract, though hopefully there will be ample reason for him to come around on that in the future. He does, however, give us an analogy about fans. . .not just Vikings fans, but fans in general. . .that pretty well sums up fandom as a whole.
“. . .that’s the thing about fans, like wrestling fans, KISS fans, Star Wars fans, football fans, they’re all the same. They love their team, they love their band, their wrestler, but they hate everything they do. And that’s kind of how it is when you’re an NFL fan.”
He also gets into a bit about being in attendance for this year’s season finale at U.S. Bank Stadium.
If you want to skip straight to the football part, it gets underway at the 4:30 mark of the video. Oh, and if anyone else is curious about the origin of Skol, as it appears Mr. Jericho is, might I direct your attention to what might be the single most-viewed piece in the history of this website.
