Minnesota Vikings News and Links, February 6th, 2019

It’s the mid-way point of the first week of a very, very long NFL off-season.

John Randle #93...

Merry Wednesday, everyone!

It’s gonna be a long off-season, isn’t it? The off-seasons following a season where the team underwhelms are tougher for me than others. I want to see them on the field again, playing like they’re supposed to. It’s kinda’ odd, but the Vikings have been following a bit of a bad year-good year-bad year-good year trend over the past several seasons. I guess that means we’re in for a good year, yay! Now that I think about it, the Twins have been following that same trend. I wonder if there’s anything to that. I doubt it, but I don’t think something has to be true in order to believe in it.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

From Chris, the Mike Zimmer Foundation is accepting applications for 2019 MVP Scholarships. Too bad MVP doesn’t stand for Most Vocal Pessimist, a couple of our commenters would have it nailed down.

Ted shared a report stating that the Vikings are considering moving Riley Reiff to guard.

Vikings news from other sources and news from around the rest of the league:

The Way Too Early NFL Power Rankings was released way too early by ESPN, the good guys are in the upper half of NFL teams, so there’s that, which........means nothing.

From SportingNews.com, after declaring (wisely) that Carson Wentz is their starter, the Eagles then picked up Nick Foles’ 2019 option for a cool $20 million, which Foles then bought out for $2 million, per ESPN. I’d pay $2 million for $20 million.......if I had $2 million. They’d probably take a check. Then again, he’s actually paying $2 million to turn down $20 million, which I doubt I would do.

We come to today’s media selection:

Hey, it’s been a while since we took a spin around the Merrill roundabout.....and back around.....and back around. Hop in & enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

  • No discussion of politics or religion
  • No feeding of the trolls
  • This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
  • Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
  • Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
  • No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
  • If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
  • While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try the tiger meat.
