Weekend Eve Open Thread

Jerry Burns

Good Morning!

It’s Weekend Eve, hope your plans include some fun this weekend, my plan is lawn maintenance, catch up on Netflix, see if anything of note is playing at the bijou and see what other stuff we can find to do. The combine is going on right now, and I have to admit other than checking in once a day the combine doesn’t really capture my interest as far as off-season activities go like the draft does. Time to carry on with our news and links open thread full of beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes. Fire up the mock drafts and drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and try a Chocolate Vanilla Brown Ale.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

2019 NFL Scouting Combine: Time, Channel, Streaming and more from Chris.

Schefter: Vikings attempted to trade Anthony Barr last offseason also via Chris.

Vikings news from other sources:

From Vikings.com Head Coach Mike Zimmer addressed the media from the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine on Thursday.

Mike Zimmer thinking about hiring a kicking specialist coach.

Lunch break: Outlining the Vikings areas of need this off-season.

Breer, Rapoport weight-in on Vikings draft predictions from the combine.

At SkorNorth.com Matthew Coller has two Vikings related articles, the first 25 names Vikings fans should know entering draft season and pros and cons of a Trae Waynes trade.

Courtney Cronin at the ESPN NFC North blog notes Rick Spielman said Vikings’ shortcomings in 2018 ‘not all on Kirk Cousins.’

League news:

From NFL.com Jason Witten’s return will hinder Cowboys; Jaguars’ smart move.

Patriots’ Robert Kraft pleads not guilty to solicitation charges.

Rams ‘definitely’ interested in keeping Suh, Fowler.

Chiefs GM: Everything is fluid on Justin Houston trade buzz.

We come to today’s media selection: The Clash - Should I Stay or Should I Go

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, try the Tears of Our Rivals™ and as always, Welcome Aboard!
