With the legal tampering period of NFL Free Agency officially open, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated had an interesting tidbit in his MMQB column earlier today regarding CB’s Xavier Rhodes and Trae Waynes:
Corner is another position that’s considered weak (word is that Ronald Darby, even coming off an ACL injury, could bring in over $12 million per) where teams could get creative. To that end, I’m told teams have been calling the Vikings asking about trading for corners Xavier Rhodes and Trey Waynes. The former is absolutely better than any of this year’s free agents at the position, and the latter may be too. Now, Minnesota’s not giving those guys away. But for the right price …
So, I’ve been against moving either Waynes or Rhodes because the lack of depth the Vikings had at the end of last season, but it appears the Vikings might get the proverbial ‘offer you can’t refuse’.
Still, nothing more than phone calls have happened, and if anything significant does go down, we’ll have it here for you on DN.
