Three more days until the opening night of the draft, I can’t wait

Tommy Kramer

Merry Tuesday, everyone!

Alllllllrighty then, opening day of the draft is only three+ short days away. I’m excited. Notsomuch for the draft, I mean, I’m glad it’s here and I’ll definitely be watching, but I’m REALLY excited to get the boil pot and the smoker fired up for the weekend. I love cooking, and I especially love cooking outdoors, so draft weekend is a blast for me. We probably won’t have as big of a crowd as usual this year, we’ve been so busy that we haven’t planned a whole lot, but my brother-in-law & his son will be heading over from Montana, and we’ll also be joined by any of the last minute invitees who are able to make it, and it will be three days of various meats and seafood getting smoked, grilled, or boiled. I’ve said it before, and the offer is always open, if any of you DN members are in Bismarck, and you want to come by, I just ask that you shoot me an email to let me know. It’s informal, low key, we hang out in the garage, eat so much that it makes you groan.......wait, they might be groaning at my bad jokes. Either way, it’s fun. If there’s an exceptionally long break between Vikings picks, brother-in-law and I are known to make a quick fishing trip occasionally.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

J-Dog takes a look at the 2019 draft needs for the AFC North and South.

just_rob has a place where you can discuss the latest episode of Game of Thrones. Hey, I’m getting better, I didn’t even make a Harry Potter reference.......oh wait, I guess now I did. Dang it.

Chris is looking at the top positional needs for the Vikings, he sees running back as their #5 need, and cornerback as their #4 need.

Vikings and NFL news from elsewhere, and anything else entertaining, dumbfounding, or annoying:

At Vikings.com, they say that Kyle Rudolph is primed for the ‘back 9’ of his career. Hey, if he can score enough points with touchdowns to equal the average number of strokes it takes me to golf nine holes, it’ll put him in the Hall-Of-Fame.

ESPN has a list of the most impactful draft-day trade for all 32 NFL teams.

We come to today’s media selection:

Alright, we’ll follow up Kenny Wayne Shepherd with a guy who I consider to be the top blues guitarist/singer alive, Mr. Jhnny Lang. Enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

  • No discussion of politics or religion
  • No feeding of the trolls
  • This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
  • Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
  • Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
  • No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
  • If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
  • While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try the rabbit.
