2019 NFL Draft, Day 1: Start time, channel, streaming, and when the Vikings will pick

How can you follow along with all the action?

NFL: NFL Draft Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Finally, after lo these many months, the 2019 NFL Draft is finally upon us.

Well. . .almost.

We are now, officially, less than 24 hours away from the start of the first round of this year’s three-day selection meeting. So, how can you follow along with all of the action? That’s what we’re here to let you know.

When does Day 1 of the 2019 NFL Draft get underway?

Everything will get started at 7:00 PM Central time. Throw in five minutes for the ceremonial Opening Booing of Roger Goodell, and figure that the Arizona Cardinals will, officially, be on the clock at around 7:05 PM Central.

What channels can I find the draft on?

As usual, you can find everything on either the NFL Network (this year sans Mike Mayock) or ESPN. This year, your local ABC affiliate will also be airing the NFL Draft, at least the first couple of days.

You can also watch the draft on or on the WatchESPN app, among other places. If you’re going to be traveling and have satellite radio, you’ll also be able to hear it on SiriusXM NFL Radio, which is Channel 88 on both dials.

What picks do the Minnesota Vikings have on Day 1 of the 2019 NFL Draft?

As of right now, they have just one selection on the first day, at #18 overall.

Given that, when should we expect the Vikings to be “on the clock?”

In the first round of the draft, teams can take up to 10 minutes to make their selection. If each team were to take their full 10 minute allotment, the Vikings would be on the clock just before 10:00 PM Central. However, that rarely happens, so I would put the time for the Vikings to make their selection at right around 9:00 PM Central, give or take a bit. I’ve tried to guess the past couple of years, and I have no idea how close I’ve actually been.

What will The Daily Norseman be doing for the 2019 NFL Draft?

Well, as we do every year, we’ll be getting profiles of all the picks the Vikings make up here on the site as quickly as possible. We will also have an Open Thread for each round of this year’s draft, separate from the regular Open Threads.

If you’re so inclined, I’m hearing rumors that the folks from Good Morning, Gjallarhorn will be returning with a vengeance on Thursday night, as they’ll be doing a LIVE broadcast for all of Round 1. That could prove to be an. . .interesting. . .companion piece to the evening’s festivities. We’ll have a link to that here when there’s one available.

As always, we hope that as many of you join us as possible over the next three days as we learn who the newest members of the Minnesota Vikings will be.
