With their second-to-last pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings grabbed another wide receiver with aspirations of filling the depth chart behind Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs.

The Vikings took Colorado State wide receiver Olabisi Johnson with Pick #247 overall. Ben Solak of The Draft Network had this to say about Johnson.

PROS: Has nice quickness and good body control that he incorporates well into his releases and his breaks on quick routes. Understands how to manipulate cornerbacks, especially when facing them square, to win the leverage he wants. Doesn’t recruit his hands, but excels at winning initial leverage at the line of scrimmage with jab steps and head fakes, and has the 0-to-60 acceleration to immediately stack downfield. Footwork is clearly practiced and routes are very intentional to create throwing windows. Has sure hands across the middle and can freeze balls that come with a lot of zip. Tough YAC runner who refuses to is willing to take shots from closing safeties and fight through tackles for an extra yard or two. Renowned for work ethic within the building.

CONS: Struggles to maintain velocity out of his breaks -- once he gets his head turned to the quarterback, he slows down. Must attend to getting and staying flat to maintain leverage on cornerbacks out of his breaks. A similar concern: struggles to track and establish leverage on downfield throws. Will beat corners off the line, but let them get back into the play because he doesn’t box out down the field. Size concerns should be noted for outside play -- may better project to slot work. Ran a limited route tree and received spotty attention playing opposite Cowboys rookie WR Michael Gallup -- ability to run more complex routes, parse zone coverages, and evade tacklers after the catch all question marks given low exposure.

What do you think of the selection of Olabisi Johnson, folks? Do you think he has a chance to stick on the roster or the practice squad?
