How many of us became crispy critters over the holiday weekend?

Merry Monday Tuesday, everyone!

It’s the day after Memorial Day, or Sunburn Tuesday, as we in the upper midwest normally refer to it. Memorial Day is usually the first weekend of significant sunshine exposure we upper-midwesterners have gotten for a very long time, and many of us (alcohol consumption tends to increase the probability of being included in this group) have somehow managed to have forgotten that sun exposure can result in a sunburn, especially when your skin hasn’t seen the sun in over 6 months. Then, on Tuesday, you’ll see this fairly large percentage of our population show up to work today, looking like something that resembles a lobster.......with a hangover. For all our supposed intelligence, we can sure be a dumb species sometimes. Oh well, someone has to keep those doctors from starving.

I don’t know what the weather was like in Minnesota, but the rainy weather postponed Sunburn Tuesday until next Monday. We got lots of rain over in Montana where I spent the weekend, and after getting home last night, it appears that North Dakota was the same.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris shared a highlight video filled with long Minnesota Viking touchdowns.

From Chris, there has been a slight adjustment to the compensatory draft picks the Vikings are likely to receive in 2020.

Other NFL news and other sports news:

From the Sporting News, the NFL is ‘likely to review’ an incident involving Ezekiel Elliot, an incident in which he was handcuffed. The incident happened at a carnival in Vegas? A couple things here. 1) Vegas has carnivals? 2) How on earth do you wind up handcuffed at the carnival, unless you’re the guy who has to escape from an underwater cage?

CBS Sports lists three moves the Patriots could still make this off-season, and the first on their list involves a certain Vikings player. You don’t see very many trades where the Patriots get the short end of the deal.

We come to our media selection:

It’s been a while since we’ve played Metallica, here’s one of my faves of theirs. Enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

  • No discussion of politics or religion
  • No feeding of the trolls
  • This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
  • Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
  • Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
  • No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
  • If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
  • While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try the sunblock.
