Adam Thielen makes NFL Network Top 100 at #33

New, comments

And that should do it for the Vikings

The NFL Network’s Top 100 Players for 2019 list is nearing its conclusion, and the fifth. . .and, in all likelihood, final. . .member of the Minnesota Vikings to make the list has made his appearance.

Wide receiver Adam Thielen joined the list this evening, coming in at #33. That’s a slight shift upwards from where he was on the previous year’s list, where he came in at #36.

Thielen started the 2018 season off with a bang, recording at least 100 yards receiving in each of the Vikings’ first eight games, setting an NFL record for most consecutive 100-yard games to start a season. Overall, he finished the season with career-high marks in receptions (113), receiving yardage (1,373), and receiving touchdowns (9). That yardage total now stands as the fourth-highest in Vikings history, and the most receiving yards in a season recorded by a Vikings’ receiver not named Randy Moss (Moss has the top three seasons in terms of receiving yardage in team history). He also finished the season with nine 100-yard games, which is a team record.

Thanks to a contract extension he signed this offseason, Thielen is now going to be with the purple through the 2024 season, and given the way his performance his gone up over the past few years, he contract is probably going to look like a bargain in a season or two.

Unless I miss my guess, Thielen is going to be the final member of the Vikings that makes the Top 100 list for this year. I’m sure we’d like the Vikings to have more than five players on the list. . .and, hopefully, they will at this time next year. . .but five is above what the average of this list would be, so that’s pretty solid.

Congratulations to all five Vikings that made this year’s NFL Network Top 100 list!
