Independence Day in America

ABG_july4th-300x300.0.jpg Just like a football game, the Forth of July is another fantastic reason to get together to eat, drink and be merry with your family and friends. In a way, July 4th really is the "pre-season" to "tailgating season". Summer is now in full swing and all your favorite football events are just around the corner. For those of us who love to grill, Independence Day is a serious bit of BBQ bliss. I thought I would take this opportunity to list off some of my favorite things to grill on this most American of holidays. Let’s get to it…

The Top 10 Best Things to Grill on the 4th of July

10) S’mores

OK… granted it’s not normally cooked over a traditional "grill" but who can argue the fact that S’mores are consumed in mass quantity over American campfires everywhere and the 4th of July is no exception.

9) Grilled Chicken and Wings

Chicken is a staple of an American backyard BBQ fare. Whether you are doing hot wings, breasts, or a whole chicken, Americans absolutely love cooking up chicken on the grill, and who can blame them?

8) Skewers

Whether you call them "Kebabs", "Kabobs" or simply "Skewers", these tiny bites of yum make your backyard BBQ party a delicious and fun to eat sample pack of grilled goodness.

7) Corn on the Cob

Not many things are more American as Corn-on-the-Cob. Grilling them inside the husk is a fantastic and a very easy way to make a delicious backyard treat… but if i’m being honest… I suggest you wrap them in bacon.

6) Ribs

Anyone who knows me knows that "I never met a dead pig I didn’t like." Grilling Baby Back Ribs will make your party a cut above most of the competition on your block.

5) Onion Rings and Fries

Again, technically not a "grilled" food, but adding some cooking oil and a cast iron pan to your side burner will let you deep fry some great sides to go along with your holiday meal.

4) Steaks

Mooooooooooooooove over picks 10 thru 5. In my humble opinion, the only thing that might beat out pork on the grill, is beef. Steak is a fantastic choice when grilling. Ribeye are king, but there are many cuts of steak that will please your guests. We encourage you to give it a try.

No matter where you go on July 4th, you can bank on someone grilling burgers (or their tiny cousins "sliders"). Burgers are always delicious and you can add your favorite toppings to make them even better.

2) Bacon Cheeseburgers

Burgers are good < Bacon Cheeseburgers are BETTER! If you REALLY want to surprise your guests, make them something special like this.

1) Hot Dogs and Brats

Other than Apple Pie, there is arguably really no other food more "American" than Hot Dogs or Brats. Top them with chili, onions, cheese, bacon, mustard, relish and countless other things. We rank the "dog" as thee top most American thing to grill.
