Good Morning!

It’s a holiday for most and I’m on my seven days off starting today, link etc. will be purposely limited as comments/traffic are traditionally light on holidays. Big plans at our house include cooking excessively on the grill all weekend and smoking a pork butt for dinner on Sunday. Stranger Things 3 was release today, mrs_rob and I are planning on watching and completing it prior to me going back on service next week. If you see Vikings news on the twitterz or elsewhere that I didn’t see feel free to post in the comments. Meanwhile we’ll carry on with our news and links open thread full of beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes. Drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and go ahead and have another beer, it’s a holiday.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Ted continues the “what if” series with What If...Percy Harvin stayed healthy and happy?

Chris notes the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2020 could have 20 inductees, including Jim Marshall....finally.

Vikings news from other sources:

From Wobby addresses fan comments and questions, including what the newly re-signed Kyle Rudolph can bring in 2019, realistic expectations for the rookie class, how WR Jordan Taylor might be used on offense and special teams, the biggest challenge facing the Vikings this season, and more.

Get a behind-the-scenes look at this spring’s VEN Days, where players took care of photo and video duties for the season, and also, find out if there’s anyone on the team who hasn’t been yelled at by Coach Zimmer?

Total Access: Ranking the top 5 defenses heading into the 2019 season.

From Matthew Coller at how Teddy Bridgewater’s injury shaped the NFL in 2019.

League news:

From Making the Leap: Packers’ D to take pressure off Aaron Rodgers.

Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott will not face suspension. (get your tinfoil hats out)

Former Giants QB Jared Lorenzen dies at 38.

We come to today’s media selection: Kid Rock - Born Free

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waiter, try the freedom and Welcome Aboard!
