Good Morning!
The Vikings play Sunday on primetime TV, I have the DVR setup just in case. As most of you know I usually post league news in the comments, I won’t be able to until later today as I have something to get up early do take care of. In any case, it’s been 966 days since the Vikings lost to the Packers, bonus...the Vikings have never lost to the Packers at US Bank Field. I never did watch the first preseason game, work and life intruded, but I’m hoping to see Kyle Sloter with the second team (or first team) offense to see what he can do. Meanwhile, we’ll catch up on our NFC North opponents and then carry on with our news and links thread full of beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes. Drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and stop in at Remedy Brewing Co and have a beer, it’s the weekend!
Around the DN since our last open thread:
I asked GA Skol to setup a Survival League for the Open Thread regulars, no you don’t have to be an Open Thread regular to join, if you’re reading this at any point before the season starts get on board, Open Thread Survival League: the password is skol.

It’s that time for one of my favorite series every year Deadspin’s “Why Your Team Sucks” by Drew Magary. The most recent team to get roasted is the Pittsburgh Steelers, but I missed the Tennessee Titans yesterday. I’ll continue to update the teams as they are posted.
Consistent with the weekend news and links I’ll post the rest of the league news in the comments later today.
We come to today’s media selection: Pink Floyd - Welcome To The Machine
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waiter, try the preseason hype and Welcome Aboard
