Weekend Open Thread, Part Deux

Good Morning, Welcome to Overreaction Sunday!

I was working yesterday and didn’t get a chance to watch the game yet, I did follow the game thread but am going to wait to form any opinions until I get to watch later this week; however I am going to do absolutely nothing to abate Kyle Slotergoat™ mania as the DN preseason hero went 6/7 for 102 yards and one TD. Meanwhile, let’s carry on with our news and links open thread full of beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes. Drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and have a beer, might as well.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Vikings news from other sources:

From Vikings.com HC Mike Zimmer explains Saturday’s ‘really poor performance,’ being ‘at a loss’ with special teams.

Five takeaways from the Vikings win over the Cardinals.

Shared Heritage: 7 Vikings connect through culture and customs.

League news:

From NFL.com the big news was of course the announcement that Colts QB Andrew Luck had notified the team that he intended to retire.

What we learned from Saturday’s preseason games.

Atlanta Falcons add K Blair Walsh in flurry of moves. lol

It’s that time for one of my favorite series every year Deadspin’s “Why Your Team Sucks” by Drew Magary. The most recent team to get roasted are the Philadelphia Eagles. I’ll update the teams as they are posted.

We come to today’s media selection: Led Zeppelin- Dazed and Confused

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waiter, try the tailgate and Welcome Aboard!
