It’s not a surprising piece of news to report, but it’s still kind of depressing and sad for fans of the Minnesota Vikings.
Numerous sources are reporting that the Vikings have informed wide receiver Laquon Treadwell that he will be released it the team can’t find a trade partner for him by today’s 3:00 PM Central roster deadline.
Treadwell was the Vikings’ first-round pick (#23 overall) in the 2016 NFL Draft, and never really got any momentum in Minnesota. He had just one catch in his rookie season, and finishes his career in purple with just 56 catches for 517 yards and one touchdown.
You never want to apply this label to guys your team drafts, but it’s difficult not to label Treadwell as one of the bigger busts in recent Vikings history. He’ll probably get other opportunities given his status as a first round pick, but those opportunities will not be coming with the Minnesota Vikings.
