In less than 24 hours, the Minnesota Vikings will be taking the field to play actual football against another actual football team for the first time since New Year’s Day. Yeah, the game doesn’t really count for anything, but hey. . .at this point, do any of us really care?
The Vikings will open the preseason on Friday at the Superdome, as they travel to take on the New Orleans Saints. We want to make sure that as many people as possible are able to track all the action, and that’s why we’re bringing you this post here, as we do every week.
So, what do you need to know?

If you’re in one of the markets listed below, you can get the broadcast with the Saints’ broadcast team. Their team is made up of Joel Myers, John Stinchcomb, and Jonathan Vilma, who was once determined to be such a dirty, cheating piece of trash that the NFL suspended him for an entire year.

If you should happen to miss the game, have no fear. . .the NFL Network will be replaying it pretty much right after the game is over, with the replay starting at 10:00 PM Central time.
Radio Info
As mentioned above, the television and radio broadcast will both feature the commentary from the Vikings Radio Network. If you click on the link, you can find a complete list of Vikings Radio affiliates to make sure you have the correct station in your area.
If you have satellite radio, you will be able to find the Vikings’ feed on Channel 78 on both the Sirius and XM dials. If you’re using the SiriusXM online app, you can find the broadcast on the Vikings’ permanent channel on the service, Channel 819.
Referee Info
According to the folks from Football Zebras, the officiating crew for Friday’s contest will be led by Clay Martin. This is his second season as an NFL referee after spending three years as an umpire. . .a football one, not a baseball one. . .and the Vikings haven’t seen him since last year’s regular season opener.
Weather Info
Hey. . .the stadium in New Orleans has a roof on it! So, the weather isn’t actually going to affect the game in any way. If you’re actually attending the game, there are thunderstorms forecast for the area, but they will have passed through by the time the game starts. That means that, with any luck, the power will actually stay on at the Superdome for the entire three hours of game action.
Streaming Info
There are a couple of different options for streaming the game online via subscription, notably NFL Game Pass and Fubo.tv. It’s “free trial” season for Game Pass, so do with that information what you will.
As far as other streams are concerned, do NOT. . .and I mean not in any way, shape, or form. . .promote illegal streaming sites on The Daily Norseman. Not in the comments, not in the FanPosts, not in the FanShots, not in the Game Thread, not anywhere. Don’t even hint at them. Trust me on this. If you’re that determined to watch the game via an illegal stream, do a Google search and find it on your own. And feel free to not blame us for any ill effects your computer or device might suffer as a result.
That should be all of the information you need to follow along with all of the action as the Vikings do battle with the Saints on Friday night. We’ll have our Game Thread up about an hour before kickoff, as is tradition. Hope to see you here!
