Good Morning!
I mentioned in the Words No One Reads™ Friday due to the cut down I was going to split the weekend thread into a Saturday and Sunday edition. However, once the Vikings cut Kyle Sloter I had some fun posting gifs and took mrs_rob out for dinner and didn’t get a chance to log back in. Hurricane Dorian continues to dominate the news here, however if you’re a DN’er that lives anywhere along the east coast, now is the time to get ready and follow the storm track. Meanwhile, let’s carry on with our news and links open thread full of beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes. Drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and have a great weekend.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Minnesota Vikings 2019 Cutdown Tracker posted by the Front Page Writers.
Chris has clarifications on a handful of Vikings roster moves.
So, now what? Waivers and practice squad rules and eligibility.
Ted breaks down the Vikings roster and has some thoughts on the current 53 players.
Vikings news from other sources:
From Vikings.com Paul Allen, and Wobby share their thoughts on the 53-man roster the Vikings announced on Saturday afternoon.
5 things to know about new Vikings CB Mark Fields.
Matthew Coller at SkorNorth.com has Vikings cutdown day reactions.
League news:
It’s that time for one of my favorite series every year Deadspin’s “Why Your Team Sucks” by Drew Magary. The most recent team to get roasted are the New Orleans Saints. I’ll update the teams as they are posted.
From NFL.com Notable NFL roster moves on cut down Saturday.
Winners, losers from Jadeveon Clowney, Laremy Tunsil trades.
Following Bills cut, LeSean McCoy signing with Chiefs.
We come to today’s media selection: The Scorpions - Rock You Like a Hurricane
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waiter, pour one out and Welcome Aboard!
