“A Great People Has Been Moved to Defend a Great Nation”

This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever forget this day, yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.

Merry Wednesday, everyone!

None of the above is meant to be political or anything of the sort, but I agree with George Santayana who said ‘‘Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.”

We’re halfway through the week, and inching ever closer to the Vikings’ match-up against our hated division rival (hated by many of us, anyway). I hope to see Cook running like he did last Sunday, and I’m also hoping that we see some life out of Kirk Cousins and the passing game, if necessary. The Packers offense is lethal, as always, but so is our defense, it should be a good game.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

EBrodzy posted Skoldiers - 057 - Flailing Falcons.

Ted was here to give us a TED Talk, week one.

Ted also wanted to have a talk about red zone efficiency.

Arif posted Norse Code Podcast Episode 285: Blocked Punts and Ringers.

Ted shared the relieving news that Mackensie Alexander will NOT need surgery.

Other Vikings/NFL news, other sports news, and random oddities and annoyances:

NFL.com released their power rankings. Wow, what a fickle bunch. Everyone spends the entire off-season crowning the Browns as the heir apparent to New England, and after one horrible game, they’re bad again. LOL. Goofballs.

We come to today’s media selection:

Here’s a pretty good clip from Bleacher Report via Youtube. Mohamed Sanu can chuck the pigskin, yikes. Enjoy!

We all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

  • No discussion of politics or religion
  • No feeding of the trolls
  • Leave the gender hatred at the door
  • Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
  • Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
  • No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
  • If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
  • While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t tip the cows don’t forget to tip your waitress, and stay away from the cheese curds.
