As most of you know, Jacksonville Jaguars Uber CB Jalen Ramsey had a sideline confrontation with head coach Doug Marrone last Sunday, and then after the game asked to be traded.
As is our wont in Vikings Land, a lot of folks speculated that the team should make a trade for Ramsey, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted earlier this week that the Jags wanted at least one first round pick as part of a deal. I didn’t put a whole lot of stock into a Ramsey to the Vikings trade, even though local reporters were clamoring for it, until I saw this tweet:
I'm told Jalen Ramsey is fine playing TNF tonight, but a source just told me he doesn't anticipate being a member of the #Jags next Sun. Teams like KC, BAL, MIN, OAK, PHI, SEA hv all made substantive inquiries, but my understanding is almost every team has at least placed a call.

I still don’t think it’s going to happen, for a number of reasons. Primarily, right now, the salary cap:
Before we go too far down the road with the Jalen Ramsey stuff, it's worth considering the finances. Ramsey has a $3.634 million base salary for 2019, which the Vikings couldn't fit under their current cap. If things were to get serious, it'd take some financial shuffling.

I will say, though, that if the Vikings have made a substantive inquiry, they’ve also done their homework on the cap, or there’s a player involved that has a salary that will go to Jacksonville and allow the Vikings to fit Ramsey in. Trae Waynes is a guy that comes to mind right off the top of my head, but that’s just pure speculation on my part.
Will it happen? It seems that the rumor mill has the Chiefs as the favorite to land him now, but nothing official has come down. So until a trade happens, the Vikings are still, apparently, in the mix.
The Jaguars are scheduled to play tonight, so it will be interesting to see if he plays tonight. If he does, and then is traded tomorrow, he would not be eligible to play this weekend:
What if #Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey plays tomorrow, then gets traded... can he play Sunday or Monday? Nope, per NFL rules: No player may be on a club’s 46-player Active List for more than one game per week.

So, for those of you on the ‘let’s trade for Jalen Ramsey’ train, stay tuned. Heck, even if you’re not, stay tuned anyway!
