Merry Wednesday, everyone!
I apologize for the brevity, I’m posting this from my phone, so I will be using very few words so I can finish by morning. I look like an orangutan trying to use an iPhone when I have to text or type on this thing.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
EBrodzy posted Skoldiers - 059 - Raiding the Coffers.
The Vikings brought back a couple of familiar faces yesterday, as they signed free agent Laquon Treadwell, who was cut by the team at the end of training camp. They also signed Marcus Sherels, which we all knew would happen this year. That man makes the roster every year, regardless of the circumstances. Even when he gets released, he still finds a way to squeeze on as one of the 53. The guy may still be dominating all facets of special teams at 70 years old. The signings will add some much needed WR depth (by someone who already knows the playbook), I won’t try to argue about Treadwell, I know my opinion of the kid’s talent is not shared by many, but maybe the vacation will snap him out of the funk he’s been in since being drafted. I can only assume that Sherels will assume punt return duties. Putting Hughes in that role would not be wise, we need him to remain healthy. The stability and sure hands that Sherels brings will be a blessing, Beebe was flirting with disaster out there as a returner, and Sherels is one of the best there is at punt coverage. He must be healed up from the injury that helped spur his release from the Sai.....sorry, almost said a bad word; helped spur his release from ‘them’.
Other Vikings/NFL News:
From Reuters, it’s believed that Cam Newton is dealing with a Lisfranc injury and will likely need surgery. I’m not sure what that is, but hopefully he makes a full recovery. Not sure if Lis ever recovered from her ordeal, but Cam has access to docs that the Francs probably couldn’t afford, so I’m sure he’ll be fine.
I’Ve had enough typing on this thing, I don’t know how you youngens do it.
We come to today’s media selection:
We all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
- No discussion of politics or religion
- No feeding of the trolls
- Leave the gender hatred at the door
- Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
- Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
- No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
- If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
- While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t tip the cows don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try the blackened parrot, it will hold you over until the chef is finished preparing his latest creation, bear burnt to a crisp over a huge bonfire on some of the roughest terrain in Chicago.
