We learned yesterday that the Vikings signed wide receiver Josh Doctson to a one-year deal. Today, we learned the corresponding roster move to allow Doctson on the 53-man roster.

Center Brett Jones was the odd man out, in an official statement made by the team Monday afternoon. The Vikings now have five wide receivers and nine offensive linemen on their active roster.

The Vikings now officially have only one center on the roster—rookie starter Garrett Bradbury. Of course, current left guard Pat Elflein was the starter at center for the past two seasons, but he is the only other player on the roster with extensive experience at the position.

Jones didn’t seem to be much of a candidate to be released after a solid performance in the preseason. In fact, he was the Vikings’ highest rated player by Pro Football Focus in the preseason, earning a 90.4 overall grade over 131 total snaps.

There are still five days remaining before the Vikings and Falcons kick off at U.S. Bank Stadium, but for now, the roster is up to date.
