Overall a few mild surprises:
- Mike Boone 4th on the depth chart
- Jaleel Johnson primary NT backup
- Ameer Abdullah both punt and kick returner
Historically the Vikings depth charts haven’t always been strictly observed, however, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Mike Boone, for example, gets some reps in rotation behind Dalvin Cook, even though his position on the depth chart suggests that would be unlikely.
Similarly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Hercules Mata’afa had at least as many reps as Jalyn Holmes at 3-tech, as a more likely candidate for passing situations; or Bisi Johnson getting some opportunities as kick returner, or Armon Watts getting as many reps as Jaleel Johnson.
