We officially have football at U.S. Bank Stadium, folks! We have completed one quarter in the season opener, and the
The Vikings started things off with a three-and-out, starting with a sack of Matt Ryan by Anthony Barr! The Vikings’ special teams then started things off on the right foot, as Eric Wilson stormed through and blocked the Matt Bosher punt attempt, giving the Vikings the ball at the Atlanta 21-yard line.
A penalty on the first play took away a nice run by Dalvin Cook, but the Vikings were undeterred, turning the drive into points on a 23-yard pass from Kirk Cousins to Adam Thielen for a touchdown! Dan Bailey added the extra point, and it was very quickly 7-0, Vikings.

The Vikings’ defense came up big on the Falcons’ next series, as Matt Ryan attempted to force one to Anthony Harris, but instead found safety Anthony Harris for an interception, and the Vikings started in Atlanta territory again. After Mike Zimmer won a challenge to get what was ruled a fumble by Cousins turned into an incomplete pass, Dalvin Cook finished things off with a great 19-yard touchdown run, with Bailey’s extra point giving the home team a 14-0 lead.

The Falcons pushed into Minnesota territory on their next drive, but were forced to punt again. As we move to the second quarter, the Vikings are looking at 1st-and-10 from their own 42-yard line.
The Vikings are off to a great start, as they lead the Falcons by a score if 14-0 and look to be on the move again! Keep your eyes open for the third quarter thread sometime during halftime.
