Merry New Year, everyone!

Finally, I’m back in the saddle! For the remainder of the week, I will do my best to put up an additional thread should the comments overfloweth.

There will be a fanpost upcoming from yours truly providing some insight on my absence as of late, but for now, I can only offer my condolences to all of you, as you will once again be forced to endure my terrible humor, and an endless barrage of dad jokes. A billion and four thanks to just_rob for covering while I was away, and for keeping the open thread alive and well.

Prior to my absence, the Vikings were in the playoff hunt. Now, they’re in the playoffs, which is where teams would prefer to be this time of year. For that, I’m thankful (I’m also thankful that I didn’t spend a house payment in order for my fam to attend that last home game, sheesh). It’s the beginning of a new season, so forget the regular season. Cheer loudly and proudly, let’s kill the Saints, and SKOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

Around the DN since our last open thread:

The Vikings signed Eddie Yarbrough from the Bills’ practice squad, per Chris.

Wludford takes a close look at Sunday’s match-up between the Vikings and Saints.

Chris takes a look back at Vikings-Saints playoff history.

Reidellr4 posted Unbelievable! Wild Card.

Ebrodzy posted Skoldiers - 069 - Playoff Preview.

Other Vikings and NFL news, and random oddities and annoyances:

Sports Illustrated posted the NFL all-decade team.

NFL.com listed their NFL Offensive Player Rankings.

The Redskins have officially hired Ron Rivera as their head coach, and Jack DelRio as their defensive coordinator, per NFL.com.

We come to today’s media selection:

Need to get excited for the playoffs? This ought to do it. Enjoy!

We all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waiter, but try not to tip him over. Most of all, Welcome Aboard!
