Just as they prepare to travel to Chicago for their Monday Night Football contest against the Chicago Bears, the Minnesota Vikings have had another player test positive for COVID-19.
This time, it’s offensive lineman Dru Samia. Samia has had a positive test come back for the virus and, as a result, will not travel to Chicago with the team for this Monday’s game. He will likely miss next week’s game against the Dallas Cowboys at U.S. Bank Stadium as well.
Samia started four games at right guard this season in place of the injured Pat Elflein (who the Vikings waived yesterday). He has not played any snaps on offense since the bye week because of the emergence of rookie Ezra Cleveland at the right guard spot.
With the positive test, the Vikings will have to bring someone up from the practice squad to fill his spot. They have Brett Jones, who would have to be added to the 53-man roster as he’s already been “elevated” from the practice squad twice this season, or Aviante Collins, who has not been active yet this season.
Once again, the Vikings have had another positive COVID-19 test, this time for offensive lineman Dru Samia. More news on this story as we get it.
