Big Win is an Understatement

That was easily my 2nd favorite win of the year (and my guess is you already know my favorite).

This team came in and had their major strength (ground game) pretty much nullified by a stout defense. Zimmer coached a hell of a defensive game. Offensive playcalling was hit or miss, but came through when it mattered, however the special teams game needs major changes. NOW.

Key Takeaways:

- Look Im still not sold on him as the future, but my respect for Kirk has gone up a lot. He showed heart, emotion, and took over in a game in which the run game forced him to. THAT is what i look for in a QB. By all means in this upcoming draft scout the QBs hard, but if this is the Kirk we can see more often - there are worse guys to have under center

- This draft class is PRODUCING. It was supposed to be a class that filled some gaps and outside of Jefferson was more so for depth and value. But man we are seeing some guys really step up. DJ Wonnum is miles ahead of where i would have guessed he'd be at. And the thought of him progressing and our potential front 4 + rotation including him, Ifeadi, Hunter and Pierce has me smiling. Gladney continues to be a tremendous tackler and is giving me flashbacks of Winfield Sr with his play at the line. Troy Dye seems to be getting more involved and getting in on plays more often each week back from the IR/Covid List. Ezra Cleveland looks like he will be a staple on the offensive line, in some capacity, for years to come. Rookies really stepping up and while there is still a lot of football left this year, they are showing a bright future too after many experts and readers here predicting a long rebuild coming.

- Deadline inactivity paying off. I was dreading reading the headline "Vikings trade Harrison Smith" or "Thielen to the Browns" as both should be lifelong Vikings and both should age well with elite years ahead of them still. They both made huge plays for this team tonight that landed a W.

- While no opponent should be taking lightly, we have a handful of winnable games coming up that we really need to take care of business in:

+ The hospital Cowboys are next and are our chance to get back to .500

+ The Panthers have shown some heart and i will always root for Teddy, but its a winnable game likely without CMC that we need to take.

+ The Jags showed Green Bay dont take them lightly, but are a winnable game i expect to win.

... Take care of business there and you are suddenly 7-5 looking at some bigger threats in Tampa Bay and New Orleans and round 2 vs Chicago. By then who knows what state the league is in. But lets continue to build moment and turn this "lost season" into a playoff push
