Two days later.....yep, still happy about that win

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Tuesday, y’all!

I’m still enjoying that win by the Vikings on Sunday, I hope you are, too, because when the team is having a season like this one, you’ve gotta enjoy the little things. Speaking of seasons like this one, you can’t help but look back on the first half of the season and think “man, what if”. What if the team would have just managed to hold on to a couple of the games they should have won, they’d be right up there in a position to take the NFC North. The first two games were decided shortly after kickoff, but week 3 against the Titans still doesn’t sit well in my belly, and neither does the Seahawks game. The Vikings should have won both of those games, and if they had, would be at 4-3 right now and only one game behind the Bears and Packers. Since we’re altering history, I would also think that a Vikings team riding a 3 game winning streak and coming off of a huge win against the Seahawks wouldn’t put up a pile of dog feces like they did against the Falcons, and a win in that game puts them at 5-3 and tied for the division lead. Alas, that isn’t how things went. You know what, though? Things can happen, and until the Vikings are mathematically eliminated from making the playoffs, I’m just like Lloyd Christmas.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

GA Skol has snap counts along with analysis from Sunday’s victory.

From Chris, Coach Zimmer says that Cameron Dantzler could be back on Sunday. The words “he’s fine” come to mind.

The Vikings are in “intensive” Covid 19 protocols after a Packers RB tested positive, per Chris. @Nothing to worry about, the NFL eliminated the post-game jersey swap this year, so everyone should be fine.@

Luft Krigare and the gang are back with the latest Good Morning Gjallarhorn: Vikings vs Packers: GMG In The Raw! Dalvin Cook on Fire!.

Other Vikings/NFL news, and random oddities and annoyances:

From the Strib, Chip Scoggins thinks the Vikings should wheel and deal prior to the trade deadline. I don’t think they should just have a fire sale and trade talent away for peanuts, as some teams have done in the past, but if there is an offer where you’re getting a premium for a player who is getting older, I would certainly be willing to listen if I were them. They’d better hurry, the trade deadline is at 3:00 this afternoon.

ESPN has a trade deadline tracker where you can keep up on all the latest.

The Giants almost pulled off an upset against the Bucs last night, but they didn’t, so they lost, per Yahoo Sports. Should have had Eli under center, just sayin’ (also, I TOLD you that Eli wasn’t the problem).

From Vikings.com, catch Coach Zimmer’s Monday presser, watch film breakdown of Sunday’s biggest plays, and there’s more to sift through in the media vault.

We come to today’s media selection:

Here’s an old one from Steve Perry called Oh Sherry. Never understood why he yells “CINNAMON GUM!!!” at the beginning of the song & then again a couple more times during the song. It really has nothing to do with the song. Oh well, I guess he likes cinnamon gum. I like me some Big Red, too.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer}
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip your waitress (from a minimum of six feet away, of course), and try the head cheese.
