Thorsday Open Thread

Good Morning, It’s Thorsday!

I hope to be on my way to Georgia this morning to spend the weekend and early next week deer hunting; I got some pictures via email from my stepdad yesterday and it looks like the daytime activity is picking up and the bucks are starting to spar for terrority; however as usual life intrudes so I might not be able to go. If I do go and lose WiFi, I’ll get a hold of GA Skol and see if the can post a fanpost for Friday and the weekend so we have an open thread....for all 35 or so comments. Meanwhile we’ll carry on with our news and links full of crockpot recipes, nap strategies and beer recommendations; drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and it’s Thorsday - I was informed this is cultural appropriation, but I’m not smart and still don’t know what that means.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris notes: The Lions place Matthew Stafford on COVID-19 list, but he could still play on Sunday.

Dalvin Cook named NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Vikings news from other sources:

From Get an inside look at some of the critical moments that led to the Vikings’ 28-22 win against the Packers in Green Bay last Sunday, including bench sound and reaction, Paul Allen’s calls, and more.

4 Vikings Corners on Injury Report; Lions Matthew Stafford on Reserve/COVID-19 List.

Water Break with Austin Cutting.

League News:

Giants DB Logan Ryan ‘grateful’ for Joe Judge, trainer Justin Maher after help in frightening family situation.

Veteran QB Josh McCown signing with Texanshis 12th NFL franchise.

We come to today’s media selection: AC/DC - Big Balls

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to wash your hands, wear a mask and Welcome Aboard!

Topic of the Day: Detroit Lions starting QB Matthew Stafford is on the Covid-19 IR list for now but could play this weekend against the Vikings; if he can’t go how are you feeling about the Vikings chances against a backup QB based on recent history?
