The confidence is back. Kind of.

When it looked like fan confidence in the Minnesota Vikings couldn’t go any lower. . .and, honestly, it really couldn’t have gotten much lower. . .along comes an improbable victory to make at least some of the fans start feeling good about things again.

That’s what happened this past Sunday, when the Vikings rolled into Lambeau Field as a touchdown underdog and walked away with a 28-22 victory over Green Bay, their first over the Packers since 2018. It was enough to cause a significant bump up in fan confidence, according to our SB Nation Reacts for this week.

This week, we’re up to 34% of fans of the purple feeling that the team is moving in the right direction. It doesn’t sound like much, but considering that number sat at 8% going into the Packers game, that’s. . .

erases more numbers

throws paper away

That’s a pretty big increase!

Here’s the full rundown of fan confidence so far this year.

  • End of 2019: 84% of Vikings fans express confidence in the direction of the team
  • Post-free agency: 49%
  • Post-draft: 88%
  • Week 1: 88%
  • Week 2: 43%
  • Week 3: 9%
  • Week 4: 18%
  • Week 5: 44%
  • Week 6: 46%
  • Week 7: 15%
  • Week 8: 8%
  • Week 9: 34%

Can the Vikings generate a positive result two weeks in a row and knock off another NFC North rival in the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon at U.S. Bank Stadium? I’d like to think they can, but as always we’ll have to see.
