After a little more hype than normal, the NFL Trade Deadline did what it does basically every year. . .come and go with very little fanfare. However, there was almost a significant trade that involved the Minnesota Vikings and one of their offensive lineman that didn’t end up materializing.

According to Close, Personal Friend of The Daily Norseman Tom Pelissero™, the Tennessee Titans attempted to make a trade for the Vikings for offensive tackle Riley Reiff at the trade deadline. However, the two sides were unable to agree on a deal, and Reiff remains in purple.
Reiff is one of a handful of Vikings players that were bandied about in trade rumors on the internet, given the state of his contract and the Vikings appear to have his replacement waiting in the wings in rookie Ezra Cleveland. However, Reiff has quietly had a pretty solid year for Minnesota so far, and the Vikings were apparently hesitant to part with him regardless of their record to this point.
So, the Minnesota Vikings did not make a trade at the deadline this year, but at least one team was definitely making an effort to get one done with Rick Spielman and company.
