Mornin’ everyone,
The first day of winter? The committee who decided on that day obviously had no representation from the upper midwest, winter normally starts up here in October in most years.
Well, yeseterday’s loss was basically the end of the Vikings’ season. Two months ago, people would have laughed at you if you mentioned the Vikings in the playoffs. Two weeks ago, it looked possible, almost probable. Today, there is still a mathmetical chance that they make the playoffs, but we’re in Lloyd Christmas territory. Chris lays it out for you in the story linked below.
The game. Sigh. I don’t know, I didn’t expect to see much scoring, and although it wasn’t a high scoring affair, there were more points scored than most expected. The Vikings young defense without Eric Kendricks looked.......young. The Bears took advantage of their inexperience and did a good job of forcing mistakes. In the first half, we saw them run a LOT of misdirections and bootlegs, getting our defense to bite and overpursue in one direction, which left the other side unattended. The staff made halftime adjustments, and shut down the bootlegs in the second half, but the Bears continued to gash the defense with the running game. The Vikes had a chance to come back twice on the last two series of the game, but weren’t able to do much. A hail mary attempt at the end of the game became an interception. Best of luck to the Bears in their quest to make the playoffs.

Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:
This is awesome, I didn’t think it would happen. From NFL.com, the Jets won a game. Seriously. Yes, an NFL game against an NFL team. They Rams lost to them.

We come to today’s media selection:
Since Christmas is right around the corner, here’s one of my favorite Christmas songs. This is Speedy Gonzalez (actually Mel Blanc) with The Hat I Got For Christmas Is Too Beeg. Enjoy!
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip your waitress (from a minimum of six feet away, of course), and try the season, it’ll leave a bad taste in your mouth.
