We are about ninety minutes away from kickoff for the Christmas Day matchup between the New Orleans Saints and your Minnesota Vikings from the Superdome. Both teams have released their inactive lists, so let’s take a look at who will be sitting this one out for both teams. We’ll start, as always, with the visiting side.
Minnesota Vikings
- LB Todd Davis
- LB Troy Dye
- FB C.J. Ham
- DE Jalyn Holmes
- LB Eric Kendricks
- RB Alexander Mattison
- TE Kyle Rudolph
Well, with the Vikings declaring five players as out on their final injury report and one other one as doubtful, there wasn’t a lot of drama to today’s inactive. But the Vikings provided some, declaring that fullback C.J. Ham would be inactive for today’s game. Rookie Jake Bargas has been elevated to the main roster and will play in Ham’s spot today.
No healthy scratches for the Vikings today. We’ll have to see how they handle some of these positions given the players that are out.
And now, on to the home team.
New Orleans Saints
- DT Malcolm Brown
- OL Nick Easton
- DE Trey Hendrickson
- OL Andrus Peat
- WR Tre’Quan Smith
- S Marcus Williams
The Saints have deactivated pretty much everyone that was listed as either “Out” or “Questionable” on their final injury report. Hendrickson being out is a bit of a break for the Vikings’ offensive line, which is going to need all the breaks it can get today. Peat being out is a bit of a surprise as well, but with the way the Vikings have been unable to get any pressure this season, it likely won’t make much difference.
Those are your inactives for this one, folks. We’ll have the first of our quarterly discussion threads rolling out at around 2:30 PM Central time, an hour before kickoff.
