We’re cruising right along toward the final weekend of regular season football

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Alright, it’s Friday for me today. I’m taking tomorrow and Thorsday off to make it a 5-day weekend. I plan to relax and cook a whole bunch of dead animals on my smoker, and then eat them. I may venture out to do a little ice fishing, depending on the ice thickness. I wait until I’m sure it’s thick enough. I went through the ice one time many, many years ago, and it’s something I don’t plan to ever do again.

I know I mentioned it yesterday, but I want to make sure everyone is aware of the following: If you are unable to post, please email Rob or I. For some reason, it appears that some user accounts were changed so that their comments have to be “pre-moderated”, which means they won’t post unless a moderator approves them. It wasn’t Rob or I who made these changes, and it wasn’t anyone else at the Daily Norseman. I honestly have no use for that setting........ which pretty much sums up how I feel about Coral in general.....oops, sorry, was that out loud? My bad. Where was I? Oh yeah,........I have no use for that setting. If I got to the point where I felt I needed to place that setting on a user’s account, I’d just skip the formalities and ban them. Based on the couple of usernames that the setting was applied to, I have no clue why it was done. Neither user was anyone who caused issues, and we really don’t have any users who have caused issues, which is mostly due to the fact that this new format has driven most of our traffic away, but the point remains, I don’t know why the settings were applied, and who they were applied to, and why those users were chosen. It’s goofy. We’re addressing the issue, but at the moment, we have no clue whose accounts were changed or how many were changed. So, if you try to comment, and you aren’t able to, just shoot one of us an email and we will remove that stupid setting from your account. I’ll stop there, because anything else I say will cause issues. It would probably also be pretty funny, in a “oh, he’s gonna get fired for saying that” kind of way.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

GASkol asks ”Who are you firing?”.

From Chris,The Browns sign Alexander Hollins from Vikings’ practice squad.

Wludford evaluates Rick Spielman, Vikings GM. I doubt this will be the only conversation about Mr. Spielman that we have this off-season. It would be fun to have a tally of conversations about Spielman and Cousins, see which one gets the most buzz before training camp.

Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:

The Bills defeated the Patriots on Monday Night Football last night, per NFL.com. Prior to this season, that would have been big news. The game secured their first losing season since 2000, and it will be the first time in 11 years that they haven’t made the playoffs. The Bills have already clinched the NFC East crown this season, and it will be their first division title since 1995. Wow, THAT is a long drought. Congrats to Stefon Diggs on a spectacular season, I like him as a player and a person, and I hope the best for him. I hope they go all the way this year

We come to today’s media selection:

Here’s a good one from back in my high school days. This is Slaughter, enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip your waitress (from a minimum of six feet away, of course), and try the Coral, it tastes like s**t.
