Weekend Open Thread

Good Morning!

We had a big storm night before last complete with winds > 50mph so I’ll be fixing fencing before I go to work this morning. This and the period between minicamp and training camp are the dead zone for meaningful NFL news, so I might post some different stuff to keep the thread fresh. I was going to start a countdown to the draft, but it’s so far away it was depressing. We’ll continue our 70’s revival today with a little Credence Clearwater Revival. Meanwhile, let’s carry on with our news and links open thread full of beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes. Drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and put a brisket on the smoker and open a cold one, it’s the weekend and you deserve it.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

The MixMaster of the Draft, MarkSP18, is back with VikingsOff Season Plan v3.0

Vikings news from other sources:

From Lunchbreak: 4 Vikings Defenders Land in PFF’s Top 101 of 2019.

Vikings Kick Off 2020 Offseason with Family Time, Charity Golf.

From Matthew Coller at How good was Kirk Cousins’s supporting cast in 2019 (and how much better can they be)?

League News:

Chiefs’ pivotal SB play ‘Wasp’ added to ‘Madden 20’

XFL debuts this weekend with four-game schedule.

Cowboys: Dak Prescott’s contract situation ‘fixing to heat up

Patrick Mahomes’ new deal likely to come after draft.

Adored Browns mascot Swagger passes away at 6.

We come to today’s media selection: Creedence Clearwater Revival: Bad Moon Rising

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waiter, and Welcome Aboard!

With their first pick in this year’s draft, which offensive position group are the Vikings most likely to select?
