Well, no one believed it. We all thought it was Stefon Diggs being cryptic, or trolling, or just having some fun at everyone’s expense on social media. I mean, the Vikings wide receiver corps was Adam Thielen, Stefon Diggs, and...nothing...behind them. Diggs wasn’t going anywhere.
Neither was Percy Harvin.
Look, I was 100% certain the Vikings weren’t trading Diggs, though. Because Diggs was a key component to the Vikings offense. All this trade speculation was stupid.
A short while ago, Jay Glazer has reported that Stefon Diggs is gone:
Bills have acquired @stefondiggs in a trade from the Vikings. @NFLonFOX

Turns out I’m the idiot. Hit me up down below with all the ‘I told you so’ comments you want to throw at me. I still think it’s a monumentally dumb move, but whatever, what’s done is done.
BUT...my goodness did the Vikings get a haul:
Compensation update: Bills are trading a 1st-round pick, a 5th-round pick, a 6th-round pick and a 2021 4th-round pick for Vikings WR Stefon Diggs and a 2020 7th-round pick, source tells ESPN.

I don’t know what’s more amazing: trading Diggs, or Spielman giving up a seventh round pick. For the Bills, they get a true number one receiver. For Diggs...he gets Josh Allen and playing outside in December. For Rick Spielman and the VIkings, they now have a ton of picks in this draft, and enough draft capital to make some aggressive moves if they want to. Also, if anyone is keeping score at home, the Vikings have Adam Thielen and exactly nothing behind him worth anything more than a black market packet of toilet paper at wide receiver. So, you might want to get to know the wide receiver class in the upcoming draft.
And well, why the hell not. One more Miracle for the road:
Thanks for the memories, Diggsy.
