Xavier Rhodes agrees to deal with Indianapolis Colts

Another member of the 2019 Minnesota Vikings’ secondary has found a new home, but this is one that we had been anticipating since before the start of free agency.

Xavier Rhodes, who went to the Pro Bowl in 2019 despite having what could generously be described as a “down” year, has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts. Financial terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.

Rhodes was one of the Vikings’ three first-round picks in the 2013 NFL Draft, and for the majority of his career in Minnesota was a very good player, being named a first-team All-Pro in 2017 and making the Pro Bowl on three occasions. However, his level of play dropped off over the past couple of seasons, and with a big cap figure on the books for 2020 the Vikings released him prior to the start of free agency.

Rhodes will have an opportunity to get some revenge on the Vikings as the Vikings are slated for a trip to Lucas Oil Stadium to take on the Colts at some point during the 2020 season.
