Hey, so remember how I said that I was going to start getting the Mock Draft Database out earlier on Saturdays? Yeah. . .that totally didn’t happen this weekend, and I apologize. Real life managed to get in the way and I didn’t get an opportunity to do this until now. However, we do have this week’s update for you, with 50 Mock Drafts full of goodness.

The Underwear Olympics. . .er, NFL Scouting Combine. . .is in the books and behind us, and a lot of the mocks in this week’s Database reflect what happened in Indianapolis this past week. Of the 50 mocks we’re featuring this week, 35 of them have been updated since the last time we did this, so there’s plenty of new information out there and some significant changes along the board.

With that, let’s take a look at the 50 mock drafts that comprise this week’s Mock Draft Database.

Thanks to some new additions this week, we are now up to a total of 24 different players that have been mocked to the Minnesota Vikings through the first three weeks of our Database for this year. One particular position is still crushing the rest of the competition, but the distribution of picks at that position has changed quite a bit.

Defensive Backs - 34/50 selections (68%, up from 55% last week)

  • Trevon Diggs, Alabama - 6 selections (12%, up from 7.5%)
  • Kristian Fulton, Louisiana State - 6 selections (12%, up from 5%)
  • Jeff Gladney, Texas Christian - 6 selections (12%, up from 7.5%)
  • C.J. Henderson, Florida - 4 selections (8%, down from 12.5%)
  • Cameron Dantzler, Mississippi State - 2 selections (4%, down from 5%)
  • Grant Delpit, Louisiana State - 2 selections (4%, up from 2.5%)
  • Bryce Hall, Virginia - 2 selections (4%, down from 5%)
  • Jaylon Johnson, Utah - 2 selections (4%, down from 5%)
  • A.J. Terrell, Clemson - 2 selections (4%, NEW this week)
  • Noah Igbinoghene, Auburn - 1 selection (2%, NEW this week)
  • Antoine Winfield Jr., Minnesota - 1 selection (2%, down from 3.3%)

Yep, there are 11 different defensive backs that are being mocked to the Vikings at #25 overall with the additions of Terrell and Igbinoghene, and we now have a three-way tie for the highest number of selections this week between Diggs, Fulton, and Gladney. There are 12 total DBs in the Database thus far, but only 11 in this week’s data. Alabama safety Xavier McKinney, who made his debut last week, has disappeared from the Database for this week.

Defensive Line - 8/50 selections (16%, down from 17.5% last week)

  • Ross Blacklock, Texas Christian - 3 selections (6%, up from 5%)
  • Neville Gallimore, Oklahoma - 2 selections (4%, down from 5%)
  • Javon Kinlaw, South Carolina - 1 selection (2%, down from 2.5%)
  • Terrell Lewis, Alabama - 1 selection (2%, down from 2.5%)
  • Justin Madubuike, Texas A&M - 1 selection (2%, down from 2.5%)

Not a lot of movement among the defensive linemen this week, but it was enough to put them back into second place among the position groups. Four of these five players held steady in terms of their number of selections this week. The exception is Blacklock, who got back up to three selections after losing one last week.

Offensive Line - 7/50 selections (14%, down from 25% last week)

  • Josh Jones, Houston - 4 selections (8%, up from 7.5%)
  • Austin Jackson, Southern Cal - 2 selections (4%, down from 10%)
  • Cesar Ruiz, Michigan - 1 selection (2%, NEW this week)

Another player that dropped out this week is Wisconsin offensive lineman Tyler Biadasz, who had two selections last week and this week received none. I have to be honest. . .this is the first I’ve heard of Cesar Ruiz, but it sounds like I’m going to have to do some more research into him if he’s appeared in our Database.

Wide receiver - 1/50 selections (2%, down from 2.5% last week)

  • Jalen Reagor, Texas Christian - 1 selection (2%, down from 2.5%)

And, once again, Jalen Reagor holds onto his one selection to represent the skill position players on offense in our Database. At this point, I’m not sure how many other skill position types are going to join him. Might not be any, at this rate.

Here is the graphical breakdown of this week’s Database, which is clickable for the purposes of embiggening, as always.

We’re going to have to hold off on the trends graph until next week. For some reason, I’m having issues getting it to format properly, but I wanted to make sure we got this week’s version of the Database out there before the weekend.

There you have it, folks! We’ll be back with next week’s Database, featuring 60 different Mock Drafts and (hopefully) a look at the trends from the first four weeks of the pre-draft process.
