With the first of their seventh-round selections in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings got themselves some more defensive line help, tabbing Michigan State University standout Kenny Willekes with the 225th overall pick.
There’s no denying that Willekes had an incredibly productive career in East Lansing. A two-time All-Big Ten First-Team selection, he also picked up the conference’s Defensive Lineman of the Year Award as a junior in 2018. Over the past two seasons, he had 19 sacks and a whopping 36.5 tackles for loss.
As I generally say when it comes to the Vikings and defensive linemen, as long as Andre Patterson is in charge of developing the defensive line, I think anyone this team drafts at those positions has potential. If Willekes can turn his college production into pro production, this could be a massive steal.
